Kuwait International Airport

Medical Services
Providing on-the-spot medical assistance to all users of Kuwait International Airport - passengers, transit passenger and staff -there are the airport's two Clinics, operated by The Ministry of Public Health. The twin facilities - one located pre-immigration in the arrivals hall on the ground floor of the terminal and the other just a short walk outside the complex - are operated round the clock by highly trained doctors and support staff. Both feature modern medical facilities and are capable of dealing with a wide range of trauma. They're backed up by the airport's ambulance fleet, also fully-equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and staffed by professional paramedic teams, and will ensure swift hospital transfer for any patient requiring it.

Ground Handling
Sole supplier of ground handling services at KIA, Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC) has developed a reputation for speed and efficiency that's hard to beat.
Average turnaround time for a fully-laden widebody is under two hours, thanks to the sophisticated mix of modern ground handling equipment operated by well trained, dedicated staff.
During 1999, the ground services division handled an impressive 32,000 movements, almost 3.7 million passengers and around 4.5 million pieces of baggage at KIA.
The main arena of operations is airside where its 220-strong fleet of modern ramp equipment, capable of handling the largest commercial aircraft, includes no less than five main deck loaders, 17 lower deck loaders, 19 baggage conveyors, 42 baggage tugs, 11 push-back tractors, 17 ACUs, 21 GPUs and 12 airstairs for aircraft parked away from the terminal gates.

Catering
Hungry and thirsty? Whether you want a light bite or a full meal, Kuwait International Airport's wide range of restaurants, cafes and snack bars is at your service! The airport's excellent refreshment facilities -- open 24 hours a day, every day of the year -- are operated by Kuwait Aviation Services Co (KASCO) which annually caters for the food and beverage needs of around three million passengers. In a class of its own, however, is the impressive Le Passage airside restaurant which provides a comprehensive choice of traditional Arabic meals and international cuisine.

Fire Brigade
Operational 24 hours a day, the fire rescue team at Kuwait International Airport ranks among the most highly trained and best-equipped in the region.
Critical to the safe operation of the airport, the performance of KIA's Fire Brigade Department is monitored and supervised by the DGCA Management, to ensure implementation of, and compliance with, the latest International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) requirements and standards.
Currently rated ICAO Cat 9, the Fire Brigade operates a fleet of 16 appliances, all equipped with the most modern fire fighting technology. Appliances include no less than 14 fire tenders - five discharging water and nine both foam and water. Completing the picture are a pair of RIVs (Rapid Intervention Vehicles) and an arsenal of the latest fire and rescue equipment. To keep their skills honed to perfection, the professional fire crews undertake regular sessions at a special on-airfield training zone, which features a derelict fuselage, which can be set alight to simulate real hazard conditions. The Fire Brigade also take part in KIA's annual major disaster exercises, in conjunction with the other emergency services.
